Design & Usability

The HP Smart Tank 589 takes the mess out of ink-tank printers. Its plug-and-play bottles connect directly to the internal tanks without squeezing, and the built-in ink sensors prevent you from running dry mid-print. It features a compact 1.2-inch iCON LCD Display providing simple, guided push-buttons for copying and connecting to Wi-Fi. Plus, it's environmentally conscious, constructed from 45% post-consumer recycled plastic.

Print Quality & Yield

Thermal Inkjet technology ensures sharp black text at 1200 x 1200 dpi, and vibrant borderless photos at up to 4800 x 1200 optimized dpi. However, the real triumph is the page yield. Out of the box, HP includes enough ink to push out up to 6,000 colour pages or 4,000 black pages, which for most users translates to over a year of printing without ever buying a refill.

Connectivity & Extras

The 589 is fully untethered. Built-in 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi and Wi-Fi Direct let you print without a router. Combined with the incredibly robust HP App, you can scan documents directly to the cloud, print from your phone, and manage your hardware from anywhere. A dedicated ID Copy feature also makes replicating identity cards painless.
